“HIDDEN CURRICULUM/ MOBILE“, 2009
Video installation

Explain a cell phone to an alien? Imitate mobile callers in urban surroundings? Make calls under park benches, behind poster hoardings, on top of flower pots? Leave mobile phones in the hands of strangers, film the scene with a and record the audio of the whole thing, live, by telephone? The shooting location for Hidden curriculum / mobile, a project realized with the help of two video cameras and six mobile phones in the summer of 2009 by Annette Krauss and twelve young people in Dresden, was a pedestrian zone not far from the Kunsthaus Dresden. The functions and adaptations of mobile telephony are tried out in spontaneous scenes and in contact with passers-by. What is being sounded out here is the relationship of public and private spheres, habit and posture, place and non-place, while making calls.
